The Sloss Family

Last week I was asked to take pictures of the kids of one of my Husband's bosses for a surprise Father's Day present. Eek! Having zero experience with kids, I was overly nervous, however it was easy and fun. We went to a nearby park and let the kiddos play while I snapped candids.

Miss M has the most beautiful smile and not only loved being in the pictures,
but also loved helping her brothers and sisters know when to smile for their pictures.

Possibly my favorite of the entire shoot! I am sure her mother
would find several things wrong with this picture, namely her hair
being all over her face, But I think this picture is just perfect.

Miss G was all smiles all day!
She was the queen at freezing and smiling whenever we asked her to!

Mr C never did stop smiling the entire time we were at the park.
And boy does he have a great one!
He will be breaking some hearts when he grows up!

This was the only way we could get Little Miss M to smile the
entire day. And wow does her smile light up a park!

At the end of the session, when the kids were tired out, we grabbed some DIY chalkboard thought-bubbles and wrote DADDY on them. As per family tradition, each kid got to hold his or her own letter and they grouped up for the final one. Mom put the colorized version of these together for a Father's Day card and Facebook cover photo.

Callaway Gardens

In April my mother came for a visit and we drove up to Callaway Gardens for the day. Can I just say uh-ma-zing? This place is gorgeous and I can't wait to go back.
It seemed every flower was in bloom.
This storage home reminded me of a fairy-tale cottage.
The azaleas had just opened up that week.
This is one of my favorite pictures because of the near perfect reflection from the lazy river.
My mother is quite beautiful!
The restored pioneer home was very austere. The only decoration in the entire house was this cross hanging over the bed. Everything in the home had a practical purpose.
The dogwood flower is one of my favorites.

Uptown's Riverfest 2014

One of the best things about living in Fort Benning is that Columbus is just off post. Even though it is a pretty large city, it still has that small town feel. Riverfest was this weekend and it was a blast. Sidewalk chalk art was everywhere, live bands were set up along the riverwalk, and the Chattahoochie River was filled with dragonboat races! Even though it was overcast, it was a fun date.
Chalk artists were drawing all over the sidewalks. Some of the designs were quite intricate.
We tried some Jamaican Soda from a specialty food truck. The ginger beer was surprisingly good.
My handsome husband won a dinosaur toy throwing darts at balloons in the classic carnival style game. I think this redeems him from the disastrous attempt in Santa Cruz last year!
This is what happens when I hand Justin the camera- he waits until I am not looking then twists the camera so it is nothing like what I expected. And it actually looks pretty cool.
Photobomb by Meeker the T-Rex!
This tree has the coolest, most convoluted design. I had to snap a pic before I left the island.
I am not sure what this guy was doing. Possibly just a fun workout?
The dragonboat races were pretty cool. Fast paced and constantly paddling.
Ok, so now that we have established that I cannot take a decent picture... Time for a nice one!
